Avigdor Kahalani, on Sinai & Eilat
Taken from the movie "From Genesis to Independence"
Eilat is the most southern city in Israel and is a tourist port city.
In the past it was called Om-Rashras and in Jewish sources was known as Adom.
The occupation of Eilat was completed in 1949, almost without the need to fire a shot.
The "flag of the ink" was hoisted in the yard of the police station in Om Rashrash by Abraham Adan.
Initially, it served as a military camp and after that, as a civilian settlement from 1952.
In 1959 Eilat was proclaimed a city.
